Mrs. Charlie Holdefer Died July 28th

Mrs. Charlie (Katie) Holdefer, 76, longtime resident of Colfax, died Thursday night at Newton, Iowa.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Shissler, she was born February 10, 1884 north of this city and was educated in the Jasper County rural schools. She spent all of her life in the Colfax community except for a few years in her youth which were spent in Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Charlie Holdefer September 18, 1940 in Newton.

Mrs. Holdefer is survived by her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Bess Wilkson of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Dell Henninger of Austin, Tex.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 in the Methodist Church in Colfax with Rev. Frank P. Hladky, pastor of the Colfax Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Music was furnished by Miss Mable Kaldenberg and Mrs. LaVerne Woods with Mrs. Frank B. Evans, organist.

Bearers were John Bolen, Harold Hunter, Clarence Main, Oray Schmitt, Elmer Seieroe and Floyd Thompson.

Flower committee-Mrs. Harold Hunter, Mrs. Elmer Seieroe.

Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 4 Aug 1960.
