Virginia Sarah Beasley (1917 - 2012)

Virginia Sarah Beasley, 94, of Grapevine passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at a local medical center. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Medlin Cemetery, Trophy Club. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, J.E. Foust Funeral Home, 523 S Main St., Grapevine. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to Baylor Regional Medical Center, Grapevine.

Virginia was born on Sept. 27, 1917, in rural Jasper County, Iowa, to her parents, Andrew and Ora Painter Coffman. She was their only child and performed hard work on the farm, helping her father with daily chores as well as planting and harvesting crops. Virginia attended a rural school in the Mound Prairie Township in Jasper County, Iowa. She was married to Chester Beasley.

Virginia was a longtime resident of Newton, Iowa, and was employed by United Telephone System as a head cashier in the Newton office for 20 years. Later she moved to Grapevine to be near her family. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, gardening and cooking. She made delicious Sunday dinners topped off with her wonderful homemade pies. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chet Beasley; and close family friend, Frank Long.

Survivors: Virginia will be remembered by her daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Jim Van Duzee, of Trophy Club; her step-granddaughter, Rhonda Hall and her husband, Deke, of China Spring; step-grandson, Jim Bill Van Duzee and his wife, Codi, of Arlington; and great-grandsons, Dalton and Dylan Hall, and Caden William and Benton Van Duzee.
