Doctor D. C. Garner Died in California

Formerly Located in Mingo, Later in Other Towns For Short Periods

Word comes from California that Dr. Denver C. Garner, 61, passed away at a hospital in Long Beach, Calif., July 11th, from a gastric ailment.

Dr. Garner was formerly located at Mingo for many years and left there about sixteen years ago. Later he was located in Mitchellville, Colfax and Solna, Iowa, and also in the state of Oregon.

The following notice of this death was taken from the Long Beach, Cal., Times:

“Three days after suffering an attack of acute indigestion, Dr. Denver C. Garner, retired physician, died at 11 p.m., July 11, at a local hospital. Since coming to Long Beach a year ago, Dr. Garner had resided at 840 Roswell Ave. He was a member of the Belmont Heights M.E. Church.

“Dr. Garner was born in Taint,(Taintor?) Iowa. He spent many years in the middle-west and for a while he resided in Oregon. Fifteen years ago he came to California.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Gertrude S. Garner, two sons, Denver S. and Dwight L. Garner and three sisters, Mrs. Nora Niblack of Canyon City, Colo., Mrs. May Collier of Moulton, Ia., and Mrs. Dora Behner of Fairfield, Iowa.

Dr. E. J. Inwood, pastor of the Belmont Heights M.E. Church, will officiate at the funeral service in Mattel’s Chapel, at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 14th. Rev. H. S. Cushing of Inglewood Park will officiate at the interment in Inglewood Park Cemetery. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 21 July 1932.
