Services Held For Edward Herzog

Services were held Monday, March 11, at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown, for Edward P. Herzog, 96. Mr. Herzog of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown died there Friday, March 8. The Rev. Robert Snyder officiated. Burial was in the Zoar Cemetery, east of Baxter.

A flag presentation at the cemetery was by Frank Louis Glick Post No. 46 of the American Legion.

Soloist, Jack Jennings, was accompanied by Anne Sweeney.

Pallbearers were Floyd Herzog, Bob Grabau, Don Stephenson, James Elliott, Robert Fuller, and James Brandt.

He was born December 1, 1894 near Melbourne to Phillip and Conradina Herzog. He was educated in Melbourne and farmed in the area until 1949, when he moved to Marshalltown.

He served with the U.S. Army in France during World War I.

He was married to Hazel M. Brandt.

Mr. Herzog was a member of the Zoar United Church of Christ, the American Legion and Marshalltown Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a son, Ray Herzog; a daughter, Carmen (Mrs. Edward) Kunkel, both of Marshalltown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel in 1939, two brothers and seven sisters. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 14 mar 1991.
