Prairie City Man Killed by Runaway Team

Tom Wilson Died Wednesday Morning of Injuries received.

Tom Wilson, aged about sixty years, was killed Wednesday morning about 10:30 as a result of injuries received when a team of mules ran away.

Mr. Wilson was known by a number of folks in this community and the following account of the accident is taken from the Prairie City news: “Mr. Wilson was helping thresh at a neighbor’s south of his home when the accident occurred. The team of mules became frightened, and in the resulting runaway Mr. Wilson was thrown out, and suffered internal injuries, and was dead when Dr. Van Voorhis, who was called at once, arrived.

“The deceased came to Prairie City about thirty-eight years ago, and has lived in or near Prairie City since that time.”

“He leaves the wife and several children, most of them grown up.” ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 4 Aug 1932.
