Bondurant Man Killed By Train July 4th
Tom McIntosh Was Walking On Track And Failed To Hear Train
Tom McIntosh, 58, of near Bondurant, was killed on the railroad tracks about three miles east of that city Monday by a Great Western train.
It is reported that Mr. McIntosh had been out inspecting some cattle in a pasture and was returning home, walking on the tracks, when the accident happened.
The County Coroner, Dr. Carpenter, of Polk County, quoted the engineer of the train as stating that he saw the man on the tracks a short distance ahead as they rounded a curve, but was unable to avoid the accident.
He is survived by four daughters and four sons, and one of the sons is section foreman on the same track where his father was killed.
Some members of the McIntosh family were in attendance at the July 4th celebration in Colfax and were called from the crowd and informed of the tragic death of the father and grandfather. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 7 July 1932.
