Prairie City - Lionel Wiggins, 57, a longtime resident of Prairie City, died today, Jan. 22, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

PRAIRIE CITY – Funeral services for Lionel Wiggins, 57, a longtime resident of Prairie City, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the Prairie City Christian Church.

Bob Price, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City and Masonic Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Family visitation will be held after the Masonic services until 9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials to the Prairie City Ambulance will be accepted.

Mr. Wiggins died Tuesday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce; three sons, Mark of Prairie City and Brad and Eric, both of Mitchellville; his mother, Mary Wiggins of Prairie City; and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Ramona (Mrs. John) Frank of Prairie City and a brother, Harry Wiggins Jr. of Prairie City.

He was preceded in death by his father and a twin brother, Lowell.

Mr. Wiggins, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of the Prairie City Christian Church, Preston Masonic Lodge No. 218 of Prairie City, Booth-De Vries Post of the American Legion in Prairie City and a longtime member of the board of the Prairie City Farmers Co-op.

The son of Harry and Mary Morhauser Wiggins, he was born Dec. 3, 1933 in Des Moines and was a 1952 graduate of Prairie City Community High School.

He was married to Joyce Moomaw March 1, 1957 in Prairie City.
