Jessie Wilma Steinman

Jessie Wilma Steinman, 83, of Integrated Health Services of Jasper County in Newton, died Friday, Feb. 18, at the care facility.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with Elder Glen Oswalt of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Newton.

Visitation will be Thursday after 8 am. M. at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Memorials in Mrs. Steinman’s name will be accepted.

The daughter of Clyde and Mary O’Conner Romans, she was born July 6, 1916, in Reasnor. She graduated from Newton High School in 1934 and later attended Normal School to acquire her teaching certificate. She married Albert Steinman March 21, 1937, in Newton.

A former resident of Reasnor, Newton and Colfax, she moved to Moberly, Mo. in 1953 before returning to Newton in 1977. Mrs. Steinman worked as a homemaker. She was a former member of the Colfax Methodist Church and Mt. Zion Methodist Church and a member of the Sand hill Grange.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Susan of Wisilla, Alaska; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Dorothy Wearmouth of Newton and Ora Bess Jones of Council Bluffs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and a sister. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa tues 22 Feb 2000.
