George Goodman Passed Away Sat. in Des Moines

Funeral Services Held Tuesday From Methodist Church

George Goodman, 69, well known Poweshiek township farmer died Saturday night in Des Moines, at the home of his niece with whom he had made his home the past few months.

Mr. Goodman had not been in good health for some time and since the death of his wife last summer, had failed rapidly.

He was well known in this community and the Goodman home was always one of hospitality.

George Goodman was born August 14th, 1867 in New York State and passed away April 17th, 1937 at the home of his niece, Mrs. Spencer in Des Moines, aged 69 years, 8 months and three days.

He was united in marriage Oct. 9, 1889 to Elizabeth Scott and to this union one child, a daughter was born, who died at the age of 16 months. His wife preceded him in death last June.

Mr. Goodman is survived by one brother in Michigan and one sister in California, a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Colfax Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Russell G. Nye officiating. Interment was in the McKeever Cemetery. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 22 Apr 1937
