Services Held For Marjory M. Wallis

Marjory M. Wallis, age 61, of 118 Cherry St., Colfax, died Friday evening at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was the daughter of Chester A. and Barbara Ann Fuller Humphrey was born on July 21, 1920 near Manchester, Iowa. She moved with her family to Newburg in 1928. She attended Newburg School and graduated with the class of 1939 from Newburg High School.

She was married to Raymond L. Wallis on May 20, 1939 at Lancaster, Mo. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wallis made their home in the Newburg area.

She was employed by the Tinnes Lumber Company for 10 years. In the spring of 1961, the family moved to Colfax, and she worked for the Gilbert Hardware Store, the Snowden Grocery Store and the Cogley and Birchmeier Feed Store.

She was a member of the Colfax Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond L. Wallis of Colfax; three children, Mrs. Charles (Barbara Lea) Bates of Des Moines, Michael Ray Wallis and Chester Eugene Wallis, both of Colfax; her father, Chester A. Humphrey of rural Kellogg; (rest of the sentence is torn off)

She was preceded in death by her mother and infant twin daughters.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the Rev. John McKinstry of Colfax and The Rev. Robert Jones of Filmore, Indiana, officiating. Burial was in Chester Cemetery, north of Grinnell.

Organist was Alice Renaud; vocalist was Sherry Schultz.

Pallbearers were Darrell Henning, O. T. Scott, James Thomas, Eben Van Dusseldorp, Melvin Van Dusseldorp and Glen Wyer. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 15 Oct 1981.
