Receives Word of Father's Death

Mrs. Henry Hausner received word Monday of the death of her father, Phillip Schmitt, who passed away that morning at the home of his son, Harry Schmidt, at West Union, with whom he had been staying. He was 84 years of age and until the past winter had enjoyed good health. He was a retired farmer.

He was quite well known in Colfax, having spent a number of weeks each spring and fall with his daughter here. Since the death of his wife several years ago, he has made his home with his children, usually spending the winter in Kansas with his son, who is a physician.

Three daughters and three sons, besides a number of grandchildren, survive him.

Funeral services were held at Sumner, the old home, Wednesday morning at ten o'clock. Burial was had at the Sumner Cemetery. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 10 Mar 1932.
