Agnes Vodochodsky Wonders Brown

Agnes Vodochodsky Wonders Brown, 85, of U.S.A. Health Care Center in Newton, died of complications of pneumonia Monday, Feb. 7 at the care facility.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with elder Glen Oswalt of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the downtown funeral home where family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation will be accepted.

The daughter of Joseph and Francis Schubert Vodochodsky, she was born Aug. 24, 1914. She married George Wonders in 1930 in Des Moines and later, Shorty Brown Jan. 20, 1972, in Newton.

A resident of Newton since 1926, she preciously resided in Quarry. Mrs. Brown was employed by Automatic Washers and Skiff Medical Center in Newton for 14 years and as a nurse's aid at nursing homes. She was a former member of the Pocahontas Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, JoAnn Ervin and Nancy and Butch Townsend, all of Newton; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and two sons. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 8 Feb 2000.
