Wilbert "Bill" Vande Lune

PRAIRIE CITY, Iowa - Wilbert "Bill" Vande Lune, 82, of Prairie City, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Clearview Manor in Prairie city.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Prairie City Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Sheldon Starkenburg, pastor of the church, officiating.

Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Friday at the Christian Reformed Church, where family will be present Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials to Alzheimer's disease Association will be accepted.

The son of Auke and Dena Hollander Vande Lune, he was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Prairie City. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1933.

He married Leona Rou Wenhorst May 21, 1941, in Prairie City.

A lifelong resident of Prairie City, Mr. Vande Lune worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Prairie City Christian reformed Church; Des Moinesaires Barbershop Chorus; and was a church deacon and treasurer.

Survivors include his wife Leona; three sons and daughter-in-law, Max and Colleen and Dennis and Marcia, all of Prairie City and Brian and Viola of Mitchellville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, John of Des Moines and Paul of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and two sisters, Grace Van Dusseldorp of Oskaloosa and Elma Steenhoek of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; three brothers; an infant son; and an infant granddaughter. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Nov 1997.
