Mrs. Geo. Chance Rites Held July 6th

Funeral services for Mrs. George (Dollie) Chance of Colfax, a former resident of Lovilia, were held Wednesday, July 6 at 2 p.m. at the Zimmerman Funeral Home in Lovilia.

The Rev. Wesley Lowry conducted the services. Burial was in Lovilia Woodlawn Cemetery.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Vernie (Sylvia) Musgrove of Colfax; Mrs. Andy (Hazel) Toltin of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Earnest (Ruth) Ruby of East Moline, Ill.; three sons, Elmer Chance of Des Moines, Floyd W. Chance of Lovilia and Leo Chance of Menlo; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Luella Roberts of Newton and Dessie Chance of Albia and two brothers, James Funk of Albia and Harry Funk of Brush, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1951, two children, Edith and John, and three brothers.

Mrs. Chance, who died at the Skiff Memorial Hospital at Newton, resided with her daughter in Colfax for the past 11 years.

The daughter of William and Hanna Runnells Funk, she was born Oct. 24, 180 in Monroe County and attended Monroe County schools.

She was married to George W. Chance Oct. 24, 1900 and they farmed in Monroe County until retiring and moving to Lovilia in 1946. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 14 July 1966.
