James R. Boyd died, last Sunday morning, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. John Clements, near Greencastle; aged 80 years, 4 months and 24 days.

Mr. Boyd was a native of Carter County, Tenn., but had been a resident of Jasper County over 33 years. Mr. Boyd had been a member of the church for 50 years, and devoted much of his time for several years past to exhorting all about him to live unto the Lord.

The funeral from the Union Chapel last Monday, was conductd by Rev. Griffith, of Colfax, and was attended by a large congregation of friends and relatives of deceased, who "mourn-not as those who have no hope, " - but believe he has only gone before, to the better land. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Sat 4 Oct 1890.
