Bernice Marie Buchmeier Rites Conducted Today

KELLOGG - Funeral services for Mrs. Harry (Bernice Marie) Buchmeier, 78, of Kellogg, were held this morning at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

Memorial contributions to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kellogg will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband; a brother, Charles A. Holmes of Brainerd, Minn.; a number of nieces and nephews, including Carl Buchmeier of Kellogg, Mrs. Olen (Joyce) Lambert of Newton and Mrs. Dennis (Lena) Clapper of Baxter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Rachel Holmes, an infant daughter and a sister, Blance Guthrie.

Mrs. Buchmeier was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kellogg and was active in the ALCW of the church, was a member of the Kellogg American Legion Auxiliary and was active in Kellogg Senior Citizens' functions.

The daugher of William and Margaret Freeman Holmes, she was born Feb. 17, 1900 south of Grinnell, attended Newton public schools and after being graduated from Newton Normal School, taught in rural Kelloggs schools.

She was married Feb 17, 1921 at the family home in Newton.

She died Friday morning at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 2 Aug 1979.
