Death Calls Early Pioneer Jasper County

J.(typed as written) B. Brower, 90 passed away at the home of his son, W. W. Brower, at Sheffield, Iowa, on January 23, 1932, and was laid to rest in the Sheffield Cemetery, beside his wife, who preceded him in death one year.

Mr. Brower was a resident of Jasper County from 1868 until 1900, at which time he and his wife and two sons, Archie and Earl, emigrated to the Olds district, in Alberta Canada.

Owing to failing health, Mr. and Mrs. Brower returned to Iowa in June 1929, and made their home with their son, W. W. Brower, at Sheffield.

There remains to mourn his passing, five sons and one daughter, W. W. of Sheffield, Ia., Archie B. of Clagary, Alberta, Frank C., Alberta, Earl C. of Williams Lake, B.C. and Mrs. Maude B. Ried of Elgin, Ill. Twenty four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Brower was an honest upright citizen, and leaves behind not only his relatives, but a large circle of friends and neighbors to mourn his passing. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 4 Feb 1932.

Isaac (typed as written) Brower, age 90, died at the home of his son, William, at Sheffield. The funeral was held there and burial was in the cemetery there beside his wife, who died last February.

Five sons, Wm., Arch, Irvan, Frank and Earl, who live in Canada, in and near Calgary, and the daughter, Maude, survive.

Mr. Brower lived here on farms north of Union Chapel when his children were at home and many know them well. They went to Calgary, Canada but the last few years hae been at Sheffield, Iowa, to escape the cold northern climate. He was a member of the Methodist Church and active in all lines of the church and civic activities. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 4 Feb 1932.
