George Frederick Ogden Dies

George Frederick Ogden of Des Moines, Prominent in music and Masonic circles died Saturday evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. M. H. McCanon in Des Moines at the age of 52 years.

Mr. Ogden had been in ill health since last august and for a time was critically ill with heart trouble and high blood pressure. He was taken to the Lutheran Hospital the first of October and later was removed to his home.

He was well known in Colfax, having been born and raised at Altoona his accomplishments as a musician extended into this territory and many from here were privileged to be in his classes.

He was proprietor of the George F. Ogden School of Music and had taken a major part in bringing noted musicians to Des Moines.

He leaves four sisters, Mrs. G.A. Dillon of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. E. F. Grimes of Lansing, Mich., Mrs. E. H. Thompson of Storm Lake and Mrs. M. H. McCanon of Des Moines and five brothers, W. F. and R. L. Ogden of Des Moines, L. A. Ogden of Los Angeles, Calif., I. A. of Seattle and K. M Ogden of New York to mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Dunn Funeral Home and burial was had in the Masonic Cemetery. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 20 Nov 1930.
