Rev. Chas. E. Tower, pastor of the First Congregational Church at Cedar Rapids, died at Iowa City, Sunday Apr. 10, from a blood clot on the lung. He was a graduate of Iowa College at Grinnell and last year was given an honorary degree. Rev. Tower preached at Ashton Chapel and Baxter when he was young. First Congregational to Reveal Tablet to Honor Former Pastor

A tablet in memory of the Rev. Charles E. Tower will be formally unveiled in the foyer of the First Congregational church at the morning service Sunday at 11. It was under the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Mr. Tower that the present church building was erected in 1930 and the organ rebuilt.

The formal unveiling will take place at the close of the communion service when members of the board of trustees and board of deacons, Mrs. Charles E. Tower, her daughter, Mrs. Dale C. Reynolds of Kansas City, her grandson, Frank Tower Reynolds, and her son, Gerald P. Tower, will gather in the foyer.

H.F. Blomquist, as chairman of the building committee, will pay tribute to the Rev. Mr. Tower; and the tablet will be unveiled by Frank Tower Reynolds, the four-year-old grandson. It will be accepted by R.C. Stevenson, chairman of the board of trustees. The service will be closed by a prayer of dedication and benediction by the Rev. Nelson C. Dreier.

The tablet will read:

"In memory of Charles E. Tower, D.D., 1870-1932, pastor of this church 1928-1932, under whose inspiring leadership and practical guidance this building was erected and dedicated, July 6, 1930."
