Dwane A. Wearmouth, 75, of 212 E. 17th St. N., a resident of Newton since 1947, died Sunday morning, March 14, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of a respiratory condition.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reese Chapel.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday and visitation with the famly will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Lung Association will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Effie of Newton; a son, Craig of Newton; a daughter Christine (Mrs. Martin) Stone of Ankeny; and five grandchildren.

Hewas preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas E.

Mr. Wearmouth was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Maytag Management Club, Maytag Retired Men's Club, was a charter member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and was a member of the RSVP for which he worked in the reading program with eight year olds.

He had been a supervisor in the shipping and receiving department at the Maytag Co. until retiring in 1978 aftere 36 years of service.

Mr. Wearmouth served in the Army for five years during World War II.

The son of Emmett and Grace Jeffries Wearmouth, he was born Dec. 22, 1917 in Des Moines and attended Jasper and Polk County schools.

He was married to Mary Effie Shannon Sept. 18, 1947 in Osceola, Wis.

Mr. wearmouth also had resided in Colfax and Mitchellville. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 15 Mar 1993.
