Douglas G Wing, 72, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at his home in Newton, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 17, at the First Christian Church in Newton, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, at the church. Memorials to Unity Point Hospice or the First Christian Church may be left at the church or the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Doug, the son of Frank and Lucie L. (Engle) Wing, was born on April 9, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a graduate of Newton High School. He was united in marriage to Loire (Newlin) Wing in July of 1968 in Newton, Ill. He worked at Maytag for 32 years before retiring in 2004. He is survived by his son, Christopher (Clarissa) Wing of Newton; his daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Wood of Singapore; three grandchildren, Caitlyn (James) Reeder and Walter and Vivienne Wood; one great-grandson, James C. Reeder; siblings, Ted (Glenda) Wing of Monroe, and Andrea (John) Birkenholtz of Newton; four sister in laws, Phyllis Rabb of Evansville, Ind., Vivian Price of Newton, Ill., Loretta Newlin of Newton, Ill and Anita (Howard) Newlin of Patoka, Ill; and one brother-in-law Fred Chabot of Newton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loire Wing; father, Frank Wing; mother, Lucie L.
