Runnells, Iowa - Wayne R. Boatwright, 94, of Runnells, a lifetime resident of the Runnells, Mitchellville and Prairie City areas, died Sunday, Jan. 5, at Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mitchellville Christian Church with the Rev. Neville Clayton, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Mitchellville Cemetery.

Friends may call this afternoon at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City where the family will be present tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Memorials to the Mitchellville Christian Church, of which he was a member, will be accepted.

Born March 31, 1902, in Prairie City, he was the son of John M. and Myrtle Reece Boatwright.

He was married to Esther Fay Tucker June 15, 1924, in Mitchellville. Mr. Boatwright farmed for a living.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Darwin and Mary Boatwright of Runnells; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy B. and Walter Sargent of La Habra, Calif., and Norma Jean and John Carl of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Roy and Gayle; and two granddaughters in infancy. ~ Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, January 6 or 7, 1997.
