David Crawford, 72, a resident of Colfax for many years died at 7:00 Thursday morning May 22 at the Skiff Hospital in Newton. Mr. Crawford had been in ill health the past winter and suffered at stroke earlier in the morning. He lived but a short time after being admitted to the hospital.

Mr. Crawford was born December 30, 1885 at Angus, Iowa and came to Colfax in 1892. While a resident of the city he worked in the coal mines, at the Maytag Company in Newton and for a short time operated a restaurant in this city.

He leaves to mourn his passing three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Staker and Mrs. Elizabeth Lippincott both of Colfax and Mrs. Belle Spence of Des Moines. He was also uncle to Crawford Lippincott of Colfax. Besides the members of his family, a host of friends made through out the years also mourn his loss.

Funeral services were conducted from the Bumgardner Funeral Chapel Saturday afternoon, May 24th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Frank P. Hiadky, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officating

Music was furnished by Mrs. Geo. Rinke, soloist with Mrs. F.B. Evans pianist.

Bearers were Joe Laws, Gus DeCamp, John Mickle, Charlie Herbold, Lawrence Rawlins and Jack Williams Jr.

Mrs. Raymond Flecther and Mrs. Eugene Riley were in charge of flowers

Burial was in the Colfax Cemetary
