Obituary

Jay Weaver Ergenbright was born near Barney, Iowa on June 9, 1894. He was the son of William and Clara Mc Cants Ergenbright. He died in the U.S. Veterans hospital in Des Moines in Des Moines on Feb. 22, 1935, where he had been a patient since early November of 1934. Mr. Ergenbright married Bertha Thompson on January 30, 1917 and to this union 3 children were born. He enlisted in the United States army in 1918 and was honorably discharged following the World war. His early life was spent near Lorimor, Iowa, Union County. From there he moved to Orient, Iowa. In 1932 he moved to Newton where he was employed at the Maytag factory. A sister, Agnes, preceded him in death in 1916 and his father died in 1917. His wife, a daughter, Nayda, two sons, Edwin and Walter, his mother and step-father survive. (He is my great grandfather)
