Conduct Rites At Pleasant View For C. B. Scoville
KELLOGG – Funeral services for Charles B. Scoville, life long resident of Buena Visat township, who died Monday, were held at the Pleasant View church, south of town, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock with the pastor, Rev. R. V. Pike of Killduff in charge.
Music was furnished by a male quartet, composed of Lester, Harold and Elmer Kooistra and Jay Auten. They sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Jesus Lover of My Soul,” accompanied by Mrs. Frank Auten.
The pall bearers were E. C. Doane, Victor Reynolds, William Starrett, Charles Davis, Sherman Woods and Frank Auten.
Burial was made in the family lot in the Slagel cemetery.
Charles Bennett Scoville was born in Buena Vista township, September 18, 1860. When he was about eight years of age the family moved to the farm where his death occurred and where he had lived ever since.
He was united in marriage to Lucy Jane Marks, June 17, 1896 and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive. One son, Lester Otto, died at the age of four months.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who died Jan. 13, 1920.
Those surviving include two sons, Robert Mark, who resides near the home farm, and Emerson, at home; one daughter, Viola, also at home; one brother W. A. Scoville of Nebraska (remainder torn off).
