Death Claimed Mrs. H. C. Miller Wed’y
Funeral Services Will Be held Friday From The Home
Mrs. H. C. Miller passed away early Wednesday morning at her home here at the Goodman apartments on South Walnut street.
About a year ago, “Mother” Miller, as she is affectionately known, went through a long siege of sickness at her home, then at the Grand Hotel, and finally spent several weeks at the hospital in Des Moines. Her heroic fight for life was an inspiration to everyone and her recovery following very remarkable. She regained her strength and was able to come down into the business section a few times and be about her home. This spring, Mr. and Mrs. Miller moved from the Grand to the recently refurnished and pleasant Goodman apartments. She has not been well since that time, never being strong enough to really enjoy the beautiful rooms except the one she was in in her new home. The past week she has failed rapidly and human assistance was of no avail.
She had a busy, helpful life, of times doing more than her strength would permit. She was especially interested in the work of the Service Star and gave of her time and strength willingly. Being a very cheerful and optimistic person, her presence has been missed by her many friends and will be sincerely felt by her family.
She is survived by her husband and two children, Mrs. Wayne Waters of Jacksonville, Ill., and J. D. Miller of Colfax and four grandchildren.
Her family was her chief joy and of her it can rightfully be said, she was a true wife and mother.
In accordance with Mrs. Miller’s expressed wishes, the funeral will be private and the casket will not be opened.
Private funeral services will be held from the home, Friday afternoon at one thirty o’clock and interment will be had at the Oskaloosa cemetery.
