Bazil Wells Died in Des Moines Tuesday
Was Former Resident of Colfax And Brother of Mrs. J. B. Scott
Bazil Wells, a former Colfax resident, passed away at 4 o’clock Tuesday morning at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, where he was taken Monday for an emergency operation.
About a year ago, Mr. Wells had an operation and since then his general health seemed to improve, until Monday when he was taken suddenly worse and was rushed to the hospital where it was found there was a perforation of the bladder and peritonitis set in. Life passed out Tuesday morning.
Mr. Wells had not been a resident of Colfax for a number of years. He was born and grew to manhood here and spent a number of years working for the Colfax Northern railroad. He went from here to Valley Junction where he has since been in the employ of the Rock Island Railroad until recently, when his health would not permit regular work.
Mr. Wells is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Scott of Colfax and Mrs. Dean E. Thompson of Altoona, Iowa.
During all of his residence away from Colfax, Mr. Wells was a frequent visitor here with relatives and his many old friends.
Funeral services will be held today, (Thursday) at Altoona with interment at the Mitchellville cemetery.
