Mrs. F. F. Loskot Died Wednesday in Newton Hospital
Mrs. F. F. Loskot, 88, a resident of this community for many years, died Wednesday morning at the Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton from the infirmities of age.
Following the death of her husband Feb. 14, 1954, she continued to live in the home in Colfax as long as her health would permit, but several weeks ago she was taken to the Nelson Nursing Home in Newton and only recently to the hospital.
Mrs. Loskot came to Jasper county with her late husband in 1923 and for 17 years they resided on what is now the Bell farm west of Colfax. They next moved to near Fremont and lived there for 2 years. Returning to Jasper county they bought a farm north of Colfax and operated it for three years, then retired to Colfax, which has since been her home.
Laura Osborn, daughter of William D. and Ruth Osborn was born Jan. 10, 1866 at Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood.
On Dec. 30, 1903, she was united in marriage to Frank F. Loskot of Jefferson by the Rev. Wm. Stevenson. On Dec. 30, 1953, Mr. and Mrs. Loskot celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in Colfax with a very happy gathering of their friends and boys they had raised in their home. They had no children of their own.
Her husband died suddenly of a heart attack Feb. 14, 1954. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Sims of Grand Junction, Iowa, and Mrs. Ila Heller of Orchard, Iowa and one brother, Willie Osborn of Arkansas.
With no children of their own the Loskots took into their home several boys to raise and among them they kept in contact with were Wm. Boyer, Des Moines, who resided with them 23 years; Beverly See of Chicago, Ill., Durwood Grannis, of Auckland, New Zealand; Harold Conner, Newton; Forrest Mitchell, Des Moines and Dencil Wheelock, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Mrs. Loskot was a member of the Methodist Church, Rose of Sharon Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and Spanish War Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 from the Methodist church with the Rev. W. L. Hawn officiating.
Burial will be in the family lot at the Colfax cemetery.
