Chester C. Huckabay, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Huckabay, was born in Marion county Knoxville, Iowa September 8, 1879 and died at his home in Prairie City, Iowa December 10, 1918 at 4:00 p.m. At the time of his death his age was thirty-nine years, three months and two days.
Death was due to pneumonia following an attack of the Spanish influenza.
G. C. Huckabay and R. A. Scheffers were operators of a coal mine some miles south of town on the Norris place. Mr. Huckabay having recently moved his family from Pella to Prairie City.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife and three children Eva Ruth, seventeen, Billie Fredrick, eleven, Lola Mae, five and also three sisters of Oregon.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 at the home by Rev. L. L. Weis of the M. E. church. Interment being in West View cemetery.
