Mrs. C. Maxwell Dies at Age 80*, Born in CountySpecial to The Daily News
MINGO - Mrs. Charles A. Maxwell, 70, a lifelong resident of Jasper county, died last night at St. Thomas hospital in Marshalltown from a heart ailment.
She entered the hospital on May 19.
Mrs. Maxwell was the former Mary Leonard Stock. She was born in Clear Creek township on Mar. 13, 1880, and spent her childhood in Newton where she attended public schools. On Nov. 20, 1898, she was married to Charles A. Maxwell and the couple farmed south of Collins from that time until now.
The Maxwell's celebrated their golden anniversary in 1948.
Twelve children were born to the couple, ten of them surviving their mother. They are : Ernest, Clarence, Ralph, Leon and Forrest, all of Collins; Mrs. Daisy Santen of Newton; Howard T. of Mingo; Henry A. of Lufkin, Texas; Mrs. Ruth Starnes of Marshalltown and Mrs. Myrtle Denman of Bonita Springs, Fla. Two sons preceded her in death.
Her husband also survives.
Mrs. Maxwell was a member of the Methodist church in Newton for most of her life.
Funeral services are pending word from relatives. The Boyd Funeral Home at Baxter is in charge of arrangements."

"Services Tomorrow for Mrs. MaxwellMINGO - Funeral services for Mrs. Charles A. Maxwell, 80, who died last Tuesday from a heart ailment, will be held at two o'clock at the Ashton chapel north of Mingo.
Rev. Joslin of Collins will officiate at the services and music will be furnished by the Mingo mixed quartet accompanied by Mrs. Dale Harter."
