"J.W. Baty Dies; Services Monday

Jeptha William Baty; 75 of route 2, Newton, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Skiff Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Johnson funeral home.

The Rev. Philip C. Biblehimer, paster of the First Lutheran church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery.

Mr. Baty is survived by his wife, Anna; and a number of nieces and nephews. The son of Samuel and Margaret Baty, he was born in Marion county near Knoxville. Educated in Marion county schools, he was married to Anna Gearhart December 25, 1909 in Newton.

A retired farmer, he was born in Marion county, and moved with his parents to Jasper county near Newton in 1896. He resided in Jasper county since then."
