"Funeral Services For Mrs. De Reus Will Be Tomorrow

Colfax - (Special) - Funeral services for Mrs. Peter De Reus, 85, who died at her home in Valeria Wednesday night, will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock in the Methodist church in Colfax. Rev. F. L. Sheperd, pastor, will officiate at the services and burial will be in the McKeever cemetery near Colfax.

Mrs. De Reus was a lifelong resident of Jasper county. She is survived by seven children.

Pallbearers will be Henry De Reus, Harold Poulson, William Breizelaar*, Howard De Reus, William De Reus and Gysberg De Reus.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Roberts and daughter, Patty, will furnish the musical numbers. Mrs. Leo Carroll and Mrs. Harold Ferguson will be in charge of the floral tributes."

"OBITUARY - Mrs. Peter DeReus

Ella S., daughter of Jahu and Mahala Poulson, was born near Colfax, Iowa on March 25, 1866 and departed this life at her home in Valeria, Iowa, on July 25, 1951, after a lingering illness.

She grew to womanhood on a farm near Colfax and on November 21, 1888, was united in marriage to Peter DeReus, and to this union were born eight children, four boys and four girls. One son, Carl Ivan, preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist Church in Colfax later moving her membership to Valeria where she remained a faithful member.

She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, three sons, Claude (sic-no "e" on his name) of Valeria, Ray of Runnells and his twin brother, Roy of Winter Haven, Florida; four daughters, Mrs. India Emery of Colfax, Mrs. Edna Thomas of Mingo, Mrs. Ella Ruggles of Prairie City and Mrs. Gladys Riley of Minneapolis, Minn., 24 living grandchildren, 6 deceased grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren and one brother, George Poulson of Mason City, Iowa.

Services were held at the Methodist Church in Colfax with Rev. Floyd L. Shepherd conducting the services on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Roberts and their daughter Patty at the organ. Songs were "In The Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Flower ladies were Mrs. Elizabeth Ferguson and Mrs. Maude Carroll.

Pall bearers were Howard DeReus, Wm. DeReus, Henry DeReus, Guysbert DeReus, Wm. Vriezelaar, and Harold D. Poulson.

Burial was in the family lot at McKeever cemetery beside her son.

Mrs. Peter DeReus, 85, pioneer mother, of Valeria, Iowa died July 25th, at her home, following a lingering illness.

Burial was in the McKeever Cemetery.
