Mrs. C. M. Baird
Prairie City, March 14 – Special to the Daily News – Mrs. C. M. Baird, well known resident of Jasper county, died at her home in Prairie City, Ia., on March 7 following an illness of nearly a year. She was 75 years of age.

Mrs. Baird was born at Newton, Ia., on Feb. 22, 1856 and during her youth attended Simpson college at Indianola and Central college at Pella.

Following the completion of the college work she taught for a number of years, for one term in Prairie City in the year 1880.

At the time of her marriage she was living in the parental home at Bennington, 10 miles south of Prairie City. She was married to C. M. Baird on July 4, 1882. They established their home in Prairie City and have since made their home here.
Four children were born to them, Dr. Burton A. Baird preceded his mother in death and the others are Bess B. Baird of Omaha, Nebr., Major Raymond Baird of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Neil B. Heresterman of Glen Elynn, Ill.

Mrs. Baird became a member of the Methodist church in 1884 and was always active in the work of the organization, as a teacher in the Sunday school and as a worker in the missionary society of which she was president for many years. Source: Newton Daily News; Saturday, March 14, 1931
