Wanda Lou White, 85, of Ankeny, passed away November 27, 2014 at Sunny View Care Center.Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., December 3, 2014 at Ankeny United Methodist Church, with burial following at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held 5:00 - 7:00p.m. Tuesday, December 2nd, at Memorial Services of Iowa chapel (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.)

Wanda was born May 15, 1929 in Grinnell, Iowa to Omar and Bernice Milburn. She grew up on a farm southwest of Kellogg, Iowa, and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1948, and earned a scholarship to Iowa State Teachers college, where she earned a degree in 1950. She taught school until her marriage in 1953 to Norman White. Together they started a family, and Wanda used her education in raising their 5 children, tutoring, caring for other people's children, and substitute teaching for the Ankeny School system. In 1985 she went to work for J.C. Penney's in West Des Moines. Wanda enjoyed serving her church by teaching Sunday school, conducting and helping with Bible Schools, working in several commissions, and active in United Methodist Women. She served 5 years as church financial secretary at the Ankeny Methodist Church. Wanda is survived by her children, Rodney (Sheila) of Forest City, grandson Anthony, Warren (Anita) of Iowa Falls, Kay (Joe) of Hampton, Eric of Ankeny, Anita of Altoona; brothers and sisters, Don Milburn (Joan) Grinnell, IA, Jim Milburn(Peggy) Whittier of California, Joan Sievers (Stan)of Storm Lake, IA, Joyce Capps (Dick) of Waterloo, IA, Larry Milburn (Kathy) of Newton, IA, Gary Milburn (Shirley) of Grinnell ,Ia.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Omar and Bernice Milburn, her husband Norman, a granddaughter Lisa Marie, brother Dale Milburn, and sister Beverly Deutsch.
