Kate Moyer
Miss Kate Moyer, 86, retired Jasper county school teacher, died at her home at 616 East Seventh street North at 12:30 o’clock Friday morning. She suffered a stroke Thursday morning and had been critically ill since then.
Daughter of Phillip and Marie Moyer, she was born in Ohio and at the age of two years, came to Scott county, Ia., and later to Jasper county.
She taught in the rural schools of this county and also for several years in the town schools before retiring about 35 years ago.
Surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. William Wilson of Newton with whom she had made her home the past 14 years, a brother, John at Indianola, Ia., and two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Morgan funeral home with interment following in the Newton Union cemetery. Dr. Robert Lee Stuart, president of Taylor University at Upland, Ind., was in charge. Dr. Stuart was formerly pastor of the local First Methodist church.
