Albert Chapman Dies Saturday; Services Tuesday

Albert S. Chapman, 72, of Rt. 2 Melbourne; died, at 2 p.m. Saturday at his farm home 11 miles north of Newton after suffering a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home.

The Rev. Arthur V. Long, minister of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mr. Chapman will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.

Survivors are his wife, Lela; a son, Don Chapman of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Jeanne) Paschal of Newton; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Bruce Myers of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.

Mr. Chapman was a member of the Farm Bureau.

The son of George and Louisanna Vowell Chapman, he was born Feb. 17, 1894, in Jasper County and was educated in Jasper County schools.

He was married to Lela Stewart Aug. 16, 1916 at Newton.

Mr. Chapman was a lifelong resident of Jasper County, with the exception of five years spent in Nebraska. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, February 21, 1966.
