Woman, 46, Succumbs
Mrs. Roy Callison, 46, who has been ill at her home at 204 East Fifth street South for the past four weeks, died at midnight Thursday.
Funeral services have been arranged for Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Morgan Funeral home with interment in the Sugar Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Callison had been a lifelong resident of Jasper county except for seven years when she lived in Des Moines.
Daughter of H. I. and Amanda Bell Sanderson Alfree, she was born Nov. 14, 1893 [this is date in newspaper, other records say the 18th], in Jasper county, and attended the Sugar Grove school. She was married to Roy Callison in Newton on May 3, 1913. At first they made their home in Newton, later moving to Des Moines. They returned here about 12 years ago.
Surviving relatives are her husband and four children, Russell, Mrs. Donald Weisner and Mrs. Earl Ellsworth all of Newton, a brother, James Allfree of Colfax and three sisters, Mrs. Welcome Wyatt and Mrs. Vera Lundberg of Alcester, S.D., and three grandchildren. ~ Newton Daily News, August 23, 1940.
