D. Leona Carroll Barackman, age 99 formerly of Des Moines, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Hawaii. The daughter of Leo W. and Maude (Jackson) Carroll, Leona was born on October 14, 1914, in Colfax, Iowa. She was a graduate of Colfax High School in 1932.

On June 17, 1934, she was united in marriage to Charles H. Barackman in Bethany, Missouri. Leona worked as an office nurse and Medical Assistant until her retirement. She was a member of the Easton Place United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to the church and mailed to Easton Place United Methodist Church, 2412 Easton Blvd. Des Moines, Iowa 50317.

Those left to honor her memory include two grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Charles; her daughter Charlene and a granddaughter, Jodi. At Leona's request there will be no funeral services. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa Sept 2014.
