Marilyn A. Prall, 82, a long-time resident of Atlantic, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn.
Marilyn Annette Myers, the daughter of Ray Clark and Teckla Myrle Vedane Myers, was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Atlantic. She grew up south of Atlantic on the farm, one mile east of the Fletcher Chapel Corner. Band was a particular joy for her in high school and she graduated from Atlantic High School in 1949. She attended two years at Simpson College, and was later employed by Bankers Life as a secretary, while living in Des Moines.
She and Donald D. Prall wrote letters back and forth and were married, March 8, 1959, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. They also lived in the community of the Fletcher Chapel area.
Marilyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Esther Circle of United Methodist Women, and Eastern Star. She spent numerous hours volunteering for the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Marilyn was active in the neighborhood club known as the Women's Country Club. For over 50 years, Don and Marilyn enjoyed playing Pinochle with seven other couples who had married and raised families with them. Marilyn loved writing letters and Christmas cards to everyone dear, whether nearby or as far away as Europe. She was also known for her Holiday decorating. Marilyn's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Alan (Cheryl) Prall of Dallas Center, and their children, Jonathan of Iowa City, and Beth and Michaela of Dallas Center; daughter Pam (Randy) Wurster of Sioux City, and their children, Kelsey and Ashley of Sioux City; sister, Marcy (Ron) Helms of Newton; and nieces and nephews, Nancy (Hans) Neumann & family of Boulder, Colo., Tom (Patty) Wright and family of Minneapolis, Minn., Joel (Leslie) Wright of Newton, and Mary (Gary) Henry and son of Dallas, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Don, who passed away Dec. 1, 2013.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic with Reverend Lanette Plambeck officiating. Immediately following the funeral service a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall.
Committal services will be held at the Atlantic Cemetery, following the lunch.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic.
