Mary S. Roth
KELLOGG – Funeral services for Mary S. Roth, 96, a resident of Kellogg most of her life, were held today, March 20, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.
Memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Kellogg Historical Society will be accepted. Reese Funeral Horne in Newton was in charge of arrangements.
Miss Roth died Wednesday morning, March 18, 1992, at the Newton Health Care Center where she had resided for a few years.
Survivors are a sister, Emma Roth, a resident of Nelson Manor in Newton; and a nephew, Daniel Roth of Kimberling City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Roth.
Miss Roth was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton and the Kellogg Historical Society.
The daughter of Hiram and Anna Breen Roth, she was born July 2, 1895 in Kellogg, was a 1913 graduate of Kellogg High School and attended Highland Park Normal School in Des Moines.
She taught school in Jasper County and Kellogg and was employed at the Rueben Donnelley Co., now R. H. Donnelley Marketing, in Nevada, returning to Kellogg in 1932.
