Sally Ann Gourley
Sally Ann Gourley, 56, of Midtown Apartments in Newton, died of a heart attack, Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at her residence.
A public vigil service will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Philip Cardenzana, parochial vicar, officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral mass.
Friends may call at the church after 5:30 p.m. today. The Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements. Memorials in Mrs. Gourley’s name will be accepted.
The daughter of Augustus and Maletta Burns, she was born April 7, 1941, in Dubuque.
A resident of Newton since 1993, she also resided in Dubuque, Des Moines and Colfax.
She worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Roger J. of Ankeny and Robert M. of Sioux City; two daughters, Kim (Mrs. Merle) Wilson of Des Moines and Melissa (Mrs. Jon) Koon of Newton; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Sherman of Birmingham, Ala.; and four brothers, John Burns of Clarksville, Tenn., Chuck Burns of Copperas Cove, Texas, Al VanOutsen of Des Moines and Joe Burns of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy.
