Kenneth E. "Kenny" Crook, 58, of Rt. 4, Newton, a longtime resident of Newton and owner-operator of the Kenny's Newton Sheet Metal Co. since 1976, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1985, at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Father E. William Kaska, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Patricia; a son, Terry of Bentonville, Ark.; two granddaughters, Alysia and Nichole Crook of Des Moines; four brothers, Clifford of Sacramento, Calif., and Calvin, Bernard, and James, all of Newton; and a sister, Myrna Hill of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a stepson, Steven Wharff Nov. 21, 1977.
Mr. Crook was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1270, Emerson Hough chapter of the Izaak Walton League, the Newton Moose Lodge, a former member of the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce, and the Iowa State Roofing Association and the Iowa and National Sheet metal Associations.
Mr. Crook, who with William "Bill" Briggs had owned and operated Newton Sheet Metal Co. from 1954 until 1976, had served in the Army from 1954 to 1956.
The son of Lowell and Rose Ann Clare Crook, he was born June 4, 1927 at Estherville.
He was married to Patricia Piatt Wharff Nov. 26, 1966 in Omaha, Neb
