Funeral services for Margaret Cooper 86, of 1743 S. 8th Ave. E., will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton with the Rev. Philip Cardenzana, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Cooper died of heart failure Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton.
The daughter of Peter and Mary Taffaro Nigro, she was born April 12, 1912 in Newark, N.J. She was a graduate of Newark New Jersey High School.
She married Russell O. Cooper June 2, 1945 in Afton, Mo.
A longtime resident of Newton. Mrs. Cooper also lived in Spickard, Mo. and Reasnor before moving to Newton in 1981.
She worked as a homemaker and was employed by the Holiday Inn in Newton. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
Survivors include two sons, David and William, both of Newton; a daughter, Jean (Mrs. Joe) DeCorso of Newark, N.J.; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Josephine Ioralno and Ann Tittuco, both of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and three brothers.
