Winifred M. Byers

Winifred M. Byers, 72, of 603 S. 13th Ave. W., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1987, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Horne.

Father Martin Chevalier, pastor of St. John's Catholic Church at Adair, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Heart Association be may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Andrew; a sister, Betty Lou (Mrs. John) Chevalier of Omaha, Neb., her stepmother, Mrs. Maude C. Raridon of Newton; a nephew; and three nieces.

She was preceded by her parents.

Mrs. Byers was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mrs. Byers, who retired in 1972, had been employed by the Maytag Co., United Telephone, Parsons Co. and as credit manager at Goodyear.

The daughter of Roy and Mable Emery Raridon, she was born Oct. 30, 1914 in Newton and was a 1933 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married April 12, 1936.
