Ada Bernice Sapp

Graveside rites for Ada Bernice Murphy Sapp, 93, a longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest Braida, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, win conduct services.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Sunday and visitation with the family will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials to Alzheimer's Research may be left at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

She died Tuesday morning, July 2, 1996, at Heritage Manor Care Center of complications following a stroke.

Survivors are a granddaughter, Linda Phipps of Boca Raton, Fla.; a grandson, Cliff Newell of Boca Raton, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Adrian Dewey Sapp, in 1969, and a daughter, Betty Lee Newell; March 14, 1985.

Mrs. Sapp was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic, Church and the Jasper County Senior Citizens, where she served as a member of the Kitchen Band. She was employed at the Maytag Co. for 23 years, retiring from the Plant 1 machining department Oct. 31, 1966.

The daughter of Thomas and Mary Pugh Murphy, she was born Dec. 27, 1902 in Alma, Kan.
