Ronald L. Grimes

ARLINGTON, Tex. - Ronald Lee Grimes, 47, of Arlington, Tex., a former resident of Newton, died following a heart attack Wednesday morning, April 13, 1988, in Arlington.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the Newton Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will conduct services.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth; three sons, Richard and Ryan, both of Savannah, Ga., and Rodney of North Carolina; a step-son, Larry Kling of Eagle Grove; four daughters, Rhonda Grimes of Savannah, Ga., and Missy, Michelle and Tammie, all at home; and a step-daughter, Teresa Kling Reed of Fort Collins, Colo.

Also surviving are his parents, Jack and Katherine Grimes of Newton; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Donald "Reggie" Grimes of Johnston and Steve Grimes of Milford; and a sister, Georgene (Mrs. Walt) Breckenridge of Arlington, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Mr. Grimes, a maintenance supervisor, had been a member of the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was born Aug. 4, 1940 in Albia, attended Newton schools, and was graduated from high school while serving in the Navy. He was discharged in 1964.

He was married to Elizabeth Nelson Dec. 14, 1974 in Newton.

He had resided in Newton for many years prior to moving to Arlington in 1984
