Mrs. R. G. Austin Dies at 28 Years

Life-long Resident of Newton Dies Following Prolonged Illness

Mrs. R. G. Austin, 28, died this morning at 2 o’clock at her home on Crescent Drive in Belmont Park, following several years illness of tumor of brain.

Funeral services are to be held Saturday morning at 10:00 o’clock from the Morgan Funeral home with interment in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Gladys Callison was born in Newton on Sept. 19, 1904, the daughter of Henry and Susan Callison. She grew to womanhood in this city and attended the local schools.

Ten years ago, she was united in marriage to R. G. Austin, the couple making their home in Newton. To this union one daughter, Roberta, was born. Mr. Austin is employed by the Iowa State Telephone company.

Besides her husband and daughter, Mrs. Austin is survived by her father, Henry Callison of Des Moines; three brothers, F. W. of Richey, Mont., Charles of Newton and Ralph Sidney; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Henderson of Miles City, Mont., MRs. Josephine Main, Mrs. A. A. Adamson and Mrs. Hazel Schermerhorn of Newton, and seven nieces and four nephews. ~ Newton Daily News, January 19, 1933, page 1.
