Mrs. Callison Dies Friday
Death Comes Following Operation for Tumor.

Mrs. Susan Callison died at the Skiff Memorial hospital Friday afternoon following a serious operating for tumor. The operation was a success but the patient was unable to stand the shock. She had been in failing health since early spring but had given up and was confined to her bed only the last few days. She was sixty-three years of age last May.

She is the mother of eight children, all of whom are living. She has lived in Newton and Jasper county many years and it was here that she reared her family.

Besides her husband, Henry Callison, she is survived by her children, Mrs. Josephine Main, of Des Moines; Mrs. Nellie Henderson, of Miles City, Montana; Mrs. Arnett Adamson, of Newton; Mrs. Hazel Stockmen, of Newton; Miss Gladys Callison at home, Charles Callison of Des Moines, Fred Callison, of Axtell, Montana and Sidney Callison, whom they are unable to locate. He has not been heard from in two years and the last word received he was in the navy. She also leaves a number of brothers and sisters, Mrs. Saddie Carrier of Newton; Charles Wagoner, of Newton; Mrs. G. Kiefer, of Zwingle, Iowa; Mrs. Mayme Vinton, of Fulton, Iowa; Mrs. Alice Cox of Pennsylvania; Charles Wagoner, of Newton; John Wagoner of No. Dakota; Frank Wagoner, Zwingle, Ia., and William Wagoner of California.

Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon at Moran Funeral home. Dr. W. H. Blancke, of the Lutheran church will officiate. Burial will be made in Newton cemetery. ~ Newton Daily News, August 13, 1921, page 1.

Callison Funeral Tuesday Afternoon

The funeral of Mrs. Susan Callison, which was announced for Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock, has been changed until Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock from the Morgan Funeral home. Word has been received that her son and daughter, who are living in the west started here Saturday but were delayed and will be here either today or tomorrow. ~ Newton Daily News, August 15, 1921, page 1.
