Dennis "Bear" Breer, 68, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm, Tuesday May 6, 2014 at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Bear was born March 21, 1946 to LeRoy and Opal Marie (Clement) Breer. He grew up in Newton, Iowa and after graduating Newton High School in 1964, Bear joined the Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and a Shelby Cobra enthusiast. Bear retired from John Deere in Ankeny.

Survivors include his wife, Ilajean Breer of Clive; and his close cousin, Connie (Larry) Krupp of Nevada. Bear was preceded in death by his parents.
