Henrietta "Jackie" Nadine Wahl, 92, of Grinnell, formerly of Kellogg, died on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Grinnell Healthcare. The family will greet friends from 9-10 A.M., Tuesday, June 3, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Following the visitation there will be a graveside service at Newton Union Cemetery.

Henrietta, the daughter of Gerrit and Christina (Benschop) Groeneveld, was born on December 17, 1921 in Brooten, Minnesota. She grew up in Brooten before moving to Kellogg, Iowa in 1936. Henrietta graduated from Kellogg High School in 1940 and received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher’s College. She then taught country school for three years and worked at the Maytag Company for three years.

Henrietta was united in marriage with Carl Wahl on April 17, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Kellogg until moving to a farm outside of Kellogg in 1956. Henrietta worked as a farmer’s wife and homemaker. She was a member of the Kellogg Historical Society and enjoyed collecting.

Those left to honor Henrietta’s memory are her two sons, Jerry (Barbara) Wahl of Searsboro and Norris Wahl of Kellogg. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl Wahl in 1994. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa.
